Online security
- 128-bit SSL encryption: This is the industry standard for secure communications on the internet. SSL encrypts your data and protects it from unauthorized use, and provides trusted verification systems that ensure you have connected directly with MCT’s Online Banking.
- Firewalls: Protects our computers from online attacks, break-ins, and snoopers.
- Your password: You can only access your account information with the Online Banking password you created.
- Privacy policy: MCT’s stringent privacy policy, instituted and strictly observed by our dedicated staff, keeps your personal information safe and secure.
- Multi-factor authentication: MCT adheres to the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) regulations regarding multi-factor authentication.
- Identity verification: This service monitors unusual or high risk transactions on your account when using Online Banking. If anything is detected, you will be asked to verify your identity by answering security challenge questions. You may also have to enter a special password to complete the transaction, which will be provided to you through an email or phone call. The email address and phone number on file with MCT will be used to provide you with the password that will only be used one-time.
- Verified by Visa:Visa provides reassurance that only you can use your Visa card for online shopping with a personal password.
Email security
- We will never request or ask you to “verify” personal information through an email.
- We will never ask you to click on a link to a “special” website to verify or request personal information.
- We will never ask you to “reactivate” your account online.
Branch security
- ID scanning: Before conducting any transaction, MCT’s employees view the member’s photo ID to ensure they have permission to access the account. Our practice is to scan in the member’s photo ID so that it appears when we pull up the account as it expedites the transaction and helps us comply with the USA Patriot Act.
- USA Patriot Act: The purpose of the Patriot Act is to help the U.S. government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities. Federal law requires all U.S. financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each individual that opens an account or establishes a relationship with MCT.
- Encrypted PIN pad: Members can use an encrypted PIN pad to securely input their account number, SSN, transaction amount, and debit card PIN.
Phone Security
- Contact center password: When you call the Contact Center at 301.948.9880, we’ll first ask you to provide your password.
- Sophisticated challenge questions:In addition to the Contact Center password, you may be asked several questions to verify your identity.
- Requesting a wire: We’ll call you back at the number we have on file to verify your request.
