Your Money is Safe With Us
November 2, 2008
During this time of unprecedented economic difficulty, we understand that you may have concerns about the security of your funds on deposit at MCT. You can rest assured knowing that MCT Federal Credit Union is insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government.
We are happy to inform you that as part of the new economic stability provisions instituted by the U.S. government, your funds are now insured up to $250,000 per individual. Also, your Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are insured separately up to $250,000. If you require additional insurance, there are ways to structure your accounts to increase your coverage. You may call MCT at 301.948.9880 to have a representative review your account.
MCT has money to lend
Although economic circumstances have affected the financial industry as a whole, MCT's standing is strong. We have not engaged in any subprime mortgages, and our investments are in good standing. Don't get caught in a phishing scam
Unfortunately, scam artists have been taking advantage of the current economic situation by sending e-mails claiming that they are from a financial institution that recently acquired another institution, and that account information needs to be confirmed. MCT, as well as all other financial institutions, will never ask for account information through e-mail. If you're ever unsure of the source of an e-mail regarding your personal finances, call your financial institution to verify the validity of the e-mail.
We want you to know that we appreciate your contribution to MCT. We urge you to continue to spend and save responsibly, and we will continue to do all we can to ensure the financial wellbeing of our members.
