Protect yourself against identity theft
Things you should know about MCT e-mails:
-
We never request personal information (social security number, account number, password, etc.) through email.
-
We will never ask you to “verify” information in an email.
-
We will never ask you to click on a link to a “special” website to verify or request personal information.
-
Never respond to an email if you are not sure who sent it.
-
If the e-mail guides you to a website and asks you to submit information, make sure the site is secure. Look for the "lock" icon on the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. The lock icon typically appears in the lower right-hand corner of the browser window. In addition, check the beginning of the URL or Web address - if it starts with "https://," rather than just "http://," you're on a secure server.
-
In the event you receive a suspicious email, please forward it to MCT immediately as well as to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.
