Protect yourself against identity theft
Things you should know about MCT electronic communication:

We never request personal information (social security number, account number, password, etc.) through email or text message.

We will never ask you to “verify” information in an email or text message.

We will never ask you to click on a link to a “special” website to verify or request personal information.

Never respond to an email or text message if you are not sure who sent it.

If the e-mail guides you to a website and asks you to submit information, make sure the site is secure. Look for the "lock" icon on the status bar at the bottom of your browser window. The lock icon typically appears in the lower right-hand corner of the browser window. In addition, check the beginning of the URL or Web address - if it starts with "https://," rather than just "http://," you're on a secure server.

In the event you receive a suspicious email, please forward it to MCT immediately as well as to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.

When it comes to fraud and identity theft, education is the best way to prevent becoming a victim. Below are the most recent fraud alerts that you should be aware of as an MCT member. Remember, it's important to never respond to emails that request your personal account information. In addition, please contact MCT right way if you feel you have given any information to a fraudulent site.
